Angling Super Cup

Squad Lists………………………………………..

The Angling Super Cup is being established as an Angling Legacy event that will mirror the Ryder Cup in Golf where the USA takes on Europe and the rest of the World.

The Angling Super Cup is set up  to link grass roots angling to the Angling Super Stars of today promoting Angling Spirit core values of Honour, Integrity, Best Practice and Respect of the Environment.

The inaugural Invitational launch event took place on the 13th July at Big Lake Toho which is the day after ICAST. The prize giving ceremony was hosted at the end of the day at Bass Pro Orlando.

The American and European Squads both comprised of 15 anglers. The primary selection criteria for the USA anglers is that they must have won one or more of the majors tournaments. The criteria for the European Squad was to have won a prize in Europe’s most prestigious predator events: the World Predator Classic or the World Street Fishing. Both Squad Captains also have the possibility to invite wild cards which they believe will assist in the promotion of the sport.

The format of Invitational launch event was friendly one :

  • A boat against boat event with an American and a European angler fishing together against other boats. This ensures that both the USA and Europe have a hand on the trophy as well as strong bridges are being built ahead of the first event taking place in October 2020 where the USA will take on Europe and the Rest of the World.
  • There will be a morning event followed by a lunch break and then a change of partners for the afternoon.
  • There will be trophies for the 3 best overall as well as for the longest fish of the day.
  • The 3 target species are: Black Bass, Crappie and Chain Pickerel
  • The event is based on length and the event will retain only the best overall 3 Black Bass, 3 Crappies and 1 Chain Pickerel per boat.
  • A catch measure photograph and release system will be used using ASC Leaderboard APP – Click here to get the App on Android and here on Apple Store
  • Follow the event as it unfolds either from the App or at #19ASC Leaderboard.

The Angling Super Cup History

Little is known that the idea of a global fishing competition came to Angling Spirit Founder Ross Honey to fill a gap.

After establishing and running the largest amateur golf tournament in the world ” The International Pairs” which was created to celebrate the Millenium, Ross, who has a passion for golf and fishing, established the World Predator Classic. The reason for this was to establish a structure from which a European team could be created.

Here we are, six years after launching the first World Predator Classic/ World Street Fishing, the European Team is finally formed and ready to create history on the 13th of July by pairing themselves with 15 US tournament winners or Angling figures to take part in the inaugural Angling Super Cup.

This event is set up to form a bridge in a unique way between Europe and the USA  to enable the pride and passions of the nations to be released in a dynamic exciting and compeling way inviting grass root anglers and the next generation into the sport.
